Global Day of Listening
September 21, 2025
On the Global Day of Listening, people across the world will pause—alone or together—to listen for the wisdom needed to meet this moment. By turning our attention to the Earth, to one another, and to what life is asking of us, we help seed a shift toward reverence and sacred responsibility.
Why Listen Now?
The human family is living through a profound unraveling. Ecological, social, and spiritual crises are all expressions of a deeper one: a metacrisis—a worldview shaped by human supremacy, separation, and control.
The Global Day of Listening is part of a growing movement to restore a sense of belonging and a relational way of being—one that spans cultures, traditions, and communities. On this day, people around the world pause together in a shared act of reverent attention. Each act of listening helps weave a global field of coherence, presence, and sacred responsibility—aligned with the wisdom of life.
Pledge to Listen
The pledge is an act of intention. By taking it, you consciously step into a global field of listening—joining with others across the world in attuning to life’s wisdom.
Perspectives on Listening
“When we stop the doing, and feel fully nourished in the presence of something sacred—be it sunlight, or the shade of a tree—we are silenced. We are made available to receive.”

“The Earth is not waiting for us to save her—she’s guiding us, if we’re willing to follow her lead and humble ourselves.”

"To listen to the forest is also, primordially, to feel oneself listened to by the forest. To see the world is also to experience one's own vulnerability, to feel oneself seen."

Set Your Intention
We’ll send you reflections, inspiration, and simple practices to help you plan how, where, and with whom you want to listen on the Global Day of Listening.
Pledge to Listen
The pledge is an act of intention. By taking it, you consciously step into a global field of listening—joining with others across the world in attuning to life’s wisdom.
This is not a transaction or a personal promise—it is an offering. A way of preparing oneself to listen with reverence, humility, and care.
Ways to Participate

Personal Practice
Participate in the Global Day of Listening through your own personal practice—attuning to life’s wisdom in a way that honors your context and inner guidance. Whether in nature, quiet reflection, ritual, or creative expression, your practice contributes to the shared field of listening across the world.

Host a Circle
A leadership pathway for those interested in convening people in your local area in a collective listening ritual. By going this route, the Pachamama Alliance will support you to host an Earth Listening Circle—a sacred space of listening and connection that extends beyond the Global Day of Listening itself.
Listening Resources
Listening is a sacred responsibility—an act of reverence, humility, and care. The resources below are offered to help you prepare and attune yourself for the Day of Listening. They are invitations, not instructions. Choose what resonates with your own way of being in relationship with the Earth and the Spirit of Life.
Finding a Sit Spot
One of the simplest and most powerful ways to reconnect with the living Earth is through a practice known as the sit spot. It requires no special tools or training—just a willingness to slow down, be still, and come into presence with a particular place in nature, again and again.

Listening to the Stars
Teachings from Arkan Lushwala
This is the heart of the teaching shared by Peruvian ceremonial leader and long-time advisor and ally of Pachamama Alliance Arkan Lushwala. His invitation is not a call to action in the conventional sense, but a call to presence, humility, and relationship. A call to remember the sacred art of listening—not only with the ears, but with the body, the heart, and the spirit.
