Stay with our Indigenous partners
Our Indigenous partners—the Achuar and Sápara people of the Sacred Headwaters region— have invited us to journey to the rainforest and learn from them so that we may carry their wisdom and message home and share their dream of a thriving, just, and sustainable world.
They live interdependently with the forest and work with its plants for food, medicine, and shelter. In order to continue their way of life, they must protect this area and keep it free from extractive industries. By going on a Pachamama Journey, you support the Achuar and Sapara to continue as the guardians of the rainforest.

Visit and protect a critical area
The Sacred Headwaters region of the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador and Peru contains the highest levels of biodiversity in the entire Amazon basin—perhaps in the whole world. Travelers to this region frequently see Pink River Dolphins, Macaws, Toucans, Capybara, and a wide variety of plants—many of which are used medicinally by the Indigenous people of the region.
The Amazon rainforest also plays a critical role in helping to regulate the Earth’s climate by sequestering carbon and producing oxygen on a massive scale. Despite its globally recognized ecological value, the Sacred Headwaters, and its Indigenous stewards, are under threat from oil and other extractive industries.

What past trip goers have said
“This journey for me was about rediscovering purpose, passion, possibility and power in everyday life. I am not only re-inspired and recommitted to making a difference, I am also profoundly aware of how we are all connected in ways we cannot imagine.”
“I have been to 78 countries and visited shamans and Indigenous tribes before. This was the best trip I have ever been on! The participants were open, well prepared, and well traveled. The guide was the most personal and involved guide I have experienced. The scenery was magnificent. The meals were great. The spiritual insights will evolve with me slowly over time. The Indigenous were generally un-Westernized. The purpose for the trip, of saving the rainforest and Indigenous ways of life, was an overarching meaning for our experiences. I can’t say enough about how wonderful this trip was!”
"The journey was absolutely amazing – transformative in a cellular sense for which I am profoundly grateful. My sense of connection, and interconnection with our Earth, has been multiplied, deepened, expanded.”
