In June we will gather...
…to initiate a deep inquiry and exploration to discover, articulate, and begin to manifest how to catalyze an evolutionary leap that transforms our species’ way of being from human supremacy to one of human responsibility and sacred reciprocity with Earth, one another, and the community of life.
Why this gathering now
For almost three decades, the Pachamama Alliance has worked to bring about an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on the planet.
This vision continues to drive our efforts in the Amazon and globally, and we see that the time is short to fulfill this mission. The cascading crises of this time are calling for an evolutionary leap, a full transformation of the way our species is living on Earth. We hold that it is possible for humans to become a life-enhancing presence on the planet, conscious stewards of the earth guiding the flourishing of life. What will it take to make that transformation?
Given the urgency of this calling, we have invited a unique cohort of thought leaders, spiritual leaders, and experts from a range of sectors of society and domains of human concerns to come together to discover the vision and actions needed to bring about a thriving and regenerative future on Earth within one generation, the next 20 to 30 years.
Outcomes
Our vision is that the group wisdom will identify leverage points and areas of early concentration that will lead to several visionary and actionable ideas for how to build the path to a transformed human presence on Earth – ideas that are bold and insightful enough to naturally catalyze the scale of collaboration and coordination needed for implementation and success.
This is not a traditional conference. It is a highly interactive and participatory design session curated to foster the group genius of 65 humans – as well as the spirits they can call upon. The invitees include shamans and Indigenous leaders whose presence and voices will add a spiritual dimension to the proceedings.
Expect the unexpected to arise!
This Gathering is meant to be a beginning, not a one-off peak experience. It is not just about creative discovery, it’s about setting ourselves on a new course. We anticipate that new partnerships and collaborations and entirely new avenues of individual and collective action will emerge.
Preparation
The Gathering will convene in Hendersonville, North Carolina, close to Asheville, over five days – beginning on Monday, June 3, and completing on Friday, June 7, 2024. Participants are requested to be present for all the sessions, which will be organized to follow the Design Shop methodology led by Rob Evans and Carolyn Buck-Luce.
Preparation for the Design Shop begins prior to our gathering in June with a series of one-on-one conversations with Scott Spann, creator of Emergent Impact™, a process designed to “solve impossible problems.” When your presence is confirmed, you will be contacted by Scott to offer your unique perspective. Through these conversations with individuals, Scott will distill their knowledge into a collective analysis of systemic interventions that will guide our Gathering inquiry.

Background
Pachamama Alliance
The primary sponsoring organization of the June Gathering is the Pachamama Alliance, based in San Francisco and in Quito, Ecuador. Founded by Lynne Twist, Bill Twist and John Perkins in 1995, the nonprofit has a two-fold mission: To empower Indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest to preserve their lands and culture and, using insights gained from that work, to educate and inspire individuals everywhere to bring forth a thriving, just and sustainable world.
Pachamama Alliance’s work in the Amazon has now expanded to 30 Indigenous nations in the Sacred Headwaters region of Ecuador and Peru and has become one of the largest indigenous-led conservation efforts in the world. In the industrialized world, hundreds of thousands of people worldwide have experienced a variety of Pachamama Alliance transformational educational and training programs, live and online, that have inspired them to become active participants in changing the dream of the modern world.
Commentary on these times by Lynne and Bill Twist
This 14-minute video, recorded in February, will introduce you to Pachamama Alliance founders Lynne and Bill Twist and to the calling that has prompted this Gathering. They spoke via Zoom to a constituent gathering called Resilience and Possibility about what they feel is being asked of humanity at this time. (See a transcript of the video).
